What is ProxyOne?
ProxyOne is a proxy server which downloads the
webpage you requested and then displays the web page to you through
an encrypted URL. Since your computer doesn't make a connection to
the server, only ours does, it brings it to you totally anonymous,
and they have know idea you were there. Information about you
and your computer isn't gathered by that website. All you do is type
in the web site you want to visit and you will be taken there
promptly and securely.
Why is my website showing up in
a search engine with ProxyOne?
ProxyOne is a proxy server which downloads
webpages and then displays the web page through an encrypted URL
for our members. We do not make copies of websites nor do we keep
copies of what our members have downloaded. We are just an
in-between layer of security for our users. Unfortunately, we
have no control over the search engines and how they index
their content. If this is an issue for you, we suggest contacting
the search engine that you located it on.
Is there anything I can't do with this
service?
Not many, for the terms of service (TOS) please
check out the Terms Of Service
page. We have found that some sites such as Yahoo mail are inaccessable
via ProxyOne, due to massive redirects in their login process. We
are currently working on fixing this issue. If there is a particular site
that you are wanting to access via ProxyOne, we highly suggest trying it
though our free service prior to signing up for our gold service. If you
sign up for the Gold Service, then find you cannot access that particular
site and want to cancel, you will still be subject to our cancellation
policy listed on our Pricing Page. We would also
like to be notified of any site that you have problems accessing via ProxyOne
so that we can make any necessary changes to improve our service for all our
members!
Why should I be concerned about my
privacy?
This information, such as your IP address, and ISP,
collected by a certain website can be used to cause potential
security risks. Anybody can use your IP address to cause malicious
harm to your computer, it can be used for leakage of personal
information, such as your address, and name. All in all, the
internet is the most insecure place out there, so take precautions,
and use ProxyOne.
I use your service many hours a day, am I
using it too much?
No, our gold service can be used as much as
possible, however to reserve bandwith for our paying customers,
the free service is limited to 10 urls per 24 hour period.
I have a question, who do I
contact?
Send an e-mail to our Support Team , and someone
will try to answer your question as soon as possible. Also, you may send any sites you
are having difficulty with here as well.
Why is this going so
slow?
The web page you requested may go slow, if it's
heavy in graphics and a big page. If our servers are loaded the
webpage will be downloading slower than usual. Even if our servers
are as quiet as a lamb, it will take roughly twice as long for the
page to load, since we have to download the page, and then you have
to download the page off of us. To fix this, we recommend using the
text only feature around the peak hours [6pm-10pm EST].
Can my employer see the pages I visit at
work/school/or somewhere else?
It depends on a few things, does your employer snoop
around on your computer and looking at your temporary internet files
and history and so on? Do they keep logs on their server on traffic
employees use on the internet? To be safe you should clear your
history and temporary internet files regularly. If the employer
keeps logs on which pages you visit all they will see is the
encrypted URL. So they won't know what page it is. Before you take
my word for it, maybe find out what sort of logging your company
does and take the necessary precautions.
Why do you have ads on your
pages?
The
reason we have so many ads is to support our site. Without these ads
the site wouldn't exsist. There just wouldn't be any money to pay
for the servers. Even with all these ads, profit is barely anything.
Can I use your service if I'm using
MAC/Linux/or other non-windows OS'?
YES! The best part of our surfing is that it's
server-side, meaning as long as you have a web-browser you can use
our service. Just type the URL in the box at the top of the page,
and check which options you would like to turn on. We recommend
leaving them all on for optimal security. Then just press the big
"GO!" button. You're now surfing totally
anonymous!
What information can people find out about
me?
Anything really, your IP address, your ISP, your
name, your email address, programs you have on your hard drive, your
web-browser, screen-depth, operating system, where you're from,
download files from your computer to a server, what's on your
clipboard, whether Java/JavaScript/VBScript/Cookies are working or
on, who owns your network, and much
more.
